Product Details:

Size: 5 x 3.5 x 3.5cm 

Gloss porcelain egg decorations with a white coloured base, hand painted with alcohol inks in colours Teal & gold. Each bauble is supplied with a coordinating hand dyed, frayed chiffon ribbon for hanging. Design may vary slightly to photos as each decoration is unique. You will not receive the exact decorations shown in the photos but a set painted with the same techniques and colours.  

We go to great effort to represent colours accurately however some colours may vary slightly due to difference in screens.

Raku, originating in Japan, is a pottery firing technique that has captured the hearts of ceramic artists worldwide. Raku involves placing the ceramic pieces in a specially designed raku kiln and subjecting them to intense heat, reaching temperatures as high as 1000°C. However, the true magic happens once the pieces are taken out of the kiln. They are placed into reduction buckets that contain various combustible materials, creating an environment of smoke and reduction. This reaction between heat and smoke as it cools results in the beautiful crackles that are characteristic of raku ceramics.

I have wholeheartedly embraced this captivating technique to create my unique animal sculptures, with a particular focus on sheep, highland cows, and donkeys. These animals hold a special place in my heart, as they symbolise my upbringing in Cumbria, a place known for its stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife. Growing up in such a picturesque and nature-filled environment has left an indelible mark on my artistic inspiration.

Creating artwork through a nature-derived process in The Lake District. Each piece begins outdoors: often up a mountain, or lake-side. Charlotte’s paintings consist entirely of captured moments from The Lake District. Movements of birds’ flight are recorded in the form of lines and once back in the studio carefully transcribed onto the canvas.  New data is gathered for each painting, with no line ever repeated. Upon completion, the artwork is taken back outdoors - interweaving the artwork's creation with nature once more. Colour palettes and sizes can vary but one thing remains a constant, encompassing the origin of Charlotte’s artistic practice: appreciation of our breathtaking Cumbrian landscape.

These cotton tea towels are lovingly made by hand, screen printed with Folded Forest’s original paper cut design, depicting A leaping hare against the setting sun, a badger and fox sleeping snugly underground. 

These lovely artworks are created by the team of two at Folded Forest. Their designs begin as hand made paper-cuts, then layers are added with pen & ink, before being transferred to screens ready for printing by hand. Screen-printing allows them to carefully choose and layer colours and to print onto all sorts of interesting surfaces, from beautiful papers, to soft linen fabric and smooth birch ply wood.
