Cazz is a Cumbrian artist who Embarked on her scholarly journey at the Cumbria Institute of the Arts, where Cazz embraced the disciplines of Contemporary Applied Arts, culminating in a Masters degree in 2006. Cazz’s passion for ceramics has since been unwavering, manifesting in a spectrum of roles from educator to demonstrator, however, her crowning achievement lies in founding her ceramic business.
Her resulting collection, is a versatile array that graces both home interiors and gardens, born from an eclectic amalgamation of materials, methods, and techniques. Each creation is a tribute to the splendor of our planet and the enchanting life it nurtures. Through the art of slip casting in porcelain, Cazz crafts vessels of delicate finesse and meaningful depth, ensuring that every piece is a maximalist expression of beauty.
As a dedicated potter, she predominantly works with porcelain; slip casting and also stoneware clays for hand-building. The influence of her beekeeping avocation is interwoven into every design, imprinted in the organic patterns that each vessel proudly bears, celebrating the profound impact of these tiny pollinators.
The finishing of Cazz’s pieces is an art in itself. A fusion of underglazing, screen printing, and collage; the whimsy of bubble glazing; the earthiness of textured papers; the precision of decal transfers; the spontaneity of mark-making; and the opulence of gold lustre. These are the signatures of a true maximalist, evident in every inch of her work.
